Creativity Matters

Students begin every class by saying, reading or thinking the mantra: “I am capable of creating anything I set my mind to.” We spend the remainder of class setting that thought into motion. Culture exploration is at the heart of work and it guides our bi-weekly creative process. Students spin a culture wheel to tell us where we will be traveling to. While visiting a country we learn about societal values and traditions, art forms, and their cuisine. As members of the classroom, students create artifacts, analyze text, budget, collaborate, problem solve, respect diversity, and cook and sample food from around the world. Students are encouraged to take creative risks, think outside the box, and explore in ways that are interesting to them. Yes, this class is as fun as it sounds!
