In this participation centered class we will explore a variety of musical genres including classical, jazz, twentieth century, pop, and musical theatre. We will sing a variety of pieces from a diverse group of composers while also exploring other musical styles. Students will learn and improve on various vocal and theory techniques such as melody, rhythm, harmony/texture, and expressive devices. Student’s skills will be sharpened through activities designed to improve student ability in sight singing, intonation, pitch memory, diction, phrasing, and vocal technique. Students will learn how to become better musicians, and how to come together as a group to accomplish a shared goal. All students are welcome to join choir; no previous experience is necessary.
